Ad man Kamal Basu, and former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi, has switched over to the marketing side to head the marketing team at Skoda Auto India. Additionally, he will also be heading the Communications department too.
Basu would be responsible to sharpen the brand positioning of Skoda in India and provide a strong imagery of Skoda models sold in the country. Skoda would be home to Basu, as in the past, Basu at Saatchi & Saatchi, has been actively involved in designing campaigns for the auto major. â€œAt Saatchi & Saatchi, I was actively involved in designing campaigns for Å koda and have had the privilege to work on the recent launch of ‘Rapid’ in India,â€ basu was quoted as saying in a company release. Basu hopes to play an integral part in the brandâ€™s journey in India.
In his stint with Saatchi & Saatchi, Basu steered advertising strategies for sectors ranging from automotive, FMCG and travel to beverages, finance and healthcare.
Prior to Saatchi & Saatchi, Basu has worked at Ogilvy, BBDO and DY&R.
Meanwhile, Thomas Kuehl, Member of the Board & Director, Sales & Marketing, Skoda Auto India, is hopeful that Basu would be able to successfully drive the communication of Skoda’s â€œcentral philosophy of â€˜Clever engineering with a human touchâ€™ and the attitude of â€˜Listen closely to customersâ€™ wishesâ€™.â€
